"The X Factor" Will No Longer Use Auto-Tune - The series is banning the software on the British edition

The U.K. edition of Simon Cowell's music talent show The X Factor will no longer use auto-tuning software to improve or enhance contestant's voices. Last week, the show's producers were criticized for tweaking vocals on a performance. Producers of the show subsequently admitted that, in line with standard television practice, sound filters were used to remove background noise, but insisted they were not employed to give contestants a competitive advantage. Despite this, the producers will no longer use the auto-tune technology on future episodes.

"There will be no auto-tune in the audition shows or for competitive performances on live shows," a spokeswoman for The X Factor told the BBC.

Will the whole overused auto-tune trend finally die out? I am sick of hearing it all over the radio. Enough is enough.
