John Lennon's life is celebrated again! Theatre Within, the grassroots non-profit behind the annual celebration of John Lennon in NYC, announced the line-up for the 33rd Annual John Lennon Tribute, set for Friday, December 6 at 8PM at Symphony Space in New York City.

Steve Earle will top a stellar line-up including Raul Malo (lead singer of the Mavericks), Marc Cohn, Teddy Thompson, Dana Fuchs ("Sexy Sadie" in the hit film Across the Universe), and returning fan favorites Joan Osborne, R&B great Bettye LaVette, Toshi Reagon, Rich Pagano (of The Fab Faux).

Lennon Tribute creator and MAD Magazine Senior Editor Joe Raiola will be appearing for his 33rd consecutive year. Plus, The Buffers, an a cappella group from Hamilton College, N.Y., has planned a special all vocal medley honoring the music legend.

"It's beautiful that Theatre Within continues to honor John's memory and have such a powerful and positive impact with its annual Tribute to him," said Yoko Ono.

The Tribute, produced in association with Music Without Borders, brings together nearly four generations of artists to celebrate John Lennon's music, life and timeless message of peace and love. Fittingly, proceeds will be shared with Spirit Foundations, established in 1978 by John and Yoko as a vehicle to support charities that address the problems of the aging, abused women and children, and victims of terrorism and natural disasters.

Theatre Within is dedicated to furthering the performing arts as a positive social force through concerts, theatrical productions and workshops. In recent years, the non-profit's Annual John Lennon Tribute has raised money to fund education programs for homeless children, feed the hungry, build music schools in the Third World, and support Hurricane Sandy relief.

At Yoko's invitation, Theatre Within chose Spirit Foundations as this year's Tribute charity recipient. "I can't think of a more wonderful way of furthering John Lennon's vision for a better world than by contributing to the philanthropic organization he founded," said Theatre Within President, Irina Vekselman.

As for the Tribute itself, Joe Raiola, who has been there for all of them, says this year's line-up is among the best ever. "It's hard to compare from one year to the next because we always attract such great artists – everybody wants to sing Lennon's songs, but this group may be my personal favorite."

Tickets for Theatre Within's 33rd Annual John Lennon Tribute are on sale and available online at LennonTribute.org or by telephone at 212-864-5400 and at the Symphony Space Box Office, Tuesday – Sunday, 1PM to 6 PM. Ticket prices are $65, $85 and $105. VIP packages are also available, some of which include a pre-show champagne reception with Tribute artists and start at $150.

Anyone plan to attend or support this event? What's your top John Lennon track? Do you have a fave?
