When you're trying to bring sexy back, you need to get up close and personal. For his "FutureSex/LoveShow" tour, Justin Timberlake will be performing "in the round," trying to maximize the number of fans in the gigantic arenas who can feel like he's fixing his gaze right on them. The push toward a more intimate setting was inspired by the singer's successful Live Listening Sessions for his new album.
"What do we got?" Timberlake said in a video statement this week. "Ten dancers, 14 bandmembers, a million tricks up my sleeve, a crazy light show -- and I might even show up. So that's pretty exciting. No, seriously, come out."
But first, Cameron Diaz's man needs to warm up, and what better place than the annual Victoria's Secret lingerie fashion show? Timberlake will headline that event on December 5th at L.A.'s Kodak Theater.
Then the North American tour kicks off on January 8 in San Diego and runs through March, playing historic venues like Savemart Center and Quicken Loans Arena (okay, so Madison Square Garden is in there, too). Pink is on board as the opener. Once he's done sexing up America, JT will head off, sans Pink, for about 60 more dates around the world.
If the FutureSex/LoveSounds album is any indication, the tour should be a success. Timberlake's sophomore release as a solo artist has sold over three million copies. Lead single "SexyBack" was a big hit, and "My Love" (featuring T.I.) is starting to blaze up the charts.
