New Jersey-born and currently New York-based punk rock heroes Titus Andronicus create some of the most thoughtful and surprisingly poetic music currently out there. Led by polarizing frontman Patrick Stickles, the band has a flare for the theatrical, and have no qualms with tackling larger issues, as they did on 2015’s The Most Lamentable Tragedy, which deals with the subject of Manic Depression.
The band is set to tour with Craig Finn of The Hold Steady throughout the spring, and continue to draw in crowds of some of the most raucous and avid followers of any artist currently making music. Stickles cares as much about the theatrical as he does about getting the correct message out to followers. For him, it’s not album sales. It’s about touching fans with poignant songs they can relate to.
ARTISTdirect’s Christopher Friedmann called up Patrick Stickles to discuss Shakespeare, New Jersey, punk rock, and what the artist is listening to right now.
