Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi Signing Up for More Spidey
Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi are close to officially signing on for the fourth and fifth films in Columbia Pictures' mega-successful Spider-Man franchise. The first three films have grossed a combined $2.5 billion worldwide, making it the company's most profitable cornerstone.Columbia is aiming to shoot the films back-to-back beginning next fall. The studio is also aiming for a May 2011 release date for Spider-Man 4, nine years after the original hit theaters. Jamie Vanderbilt, who wrote and produced Zodiac, is working on the script. The studio did not reveal which villains would populate the fourth and fifth films, nor did it confirm if actress Kirsten Dunst would reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson.
