Tom Petty Asks Republican Presidential Nomination Seeker Michelle Bachmann to Cease Using "American Girl"

At a rally held on June 27th, Minnesota congresswoman and Republican presidential hopeful Michelle Bachmann walked onstage to "American Girl," a Tom Petty classic. That didn't sit well with Petty himself, according to Rolling Stone.
Apparently, the singer's management team immediately sent a cease and desist letter to Bachmann's campaign, asking her to stop using the track.
It's not the first time Petty has seen his music "misappropriated" by the GOP. In 2000, George Bush received a similar letter/request when he used Petty's "I Won't Back Down" along the campaign trail.
We are going to guess that Petty is a liberal or a Democrat.
What do you think of rockers who get mad when political candidates use their songs?
