CartTom Waits to Appear on "The Simpsons"

Craggy-voiced singer Tom Waits will appear on an episode of The Simpsons this season. So will Justin Bieber! What opposite ends of the spectrum, right? Everyone is welcome in Springfield.
Producer Al Jean said, "We did a lot of research into the 'prepper' phenomenon, where people are convinced that some horrible catastrophe – like an electromagnetic pulse – is going to occur, and that people will have to survive without the grid. Homer becomes a prepper."
Waits won't sing in the episode, but his character will help Homer to become a survivalist on the ep, titled "Homer Goes to Prep School." It is expected to air in December. The Biebs ep is slated to air in 2013 and he has a cameo as himself.
