Actor Tommy Lee Jones is suing Paramount for a whopping 10 million dollars. Jones claims he is owed money for his starring role as Sheriff Ed Tom Bell in the Oscar winning 2007 drama No Country for Old Men. In his suit, Jones claims that he was promised "significant box office bonuses" and other assorted compensation depending on the film's success. The film went on to gross over $160 million dollars in revenue, in addition to four Oscars. Jones accepted a reduced upfront fee to star in the film and had incentives built into his contract, which he claims had errors that were never corrected prior to filming.
Jones has declined to publicly comment on the matter, saying that paperwork filed in the suit speaks for itself, according to his publicist Jennifer Allen. The suit alleges that, in addition to Jones having yet to be paid for promised bonuses, that he had expenses erroneously deducted from his salary. The 61-year-old actor has requested an auditor be appointed to review financial records and determine how much he is owed and should be paid from there.
