Tool Announce Tour Around Summer Festival Headline Gigs
Tue, 14 Mar 2017 09:27:44
Legendary rock outfit Tool have announced a series of tour dates — stringing together a number of shows around their previously announced music festival gigs. They're promising an "unparalleled sonic and visual experience" for the fans.
The tour is mainly focused on the eastern half of North America, beginning May 24th in Fairfax, Virginia and concluding June 8th in Chicago. The show on June 8th will mark the band's first gig in the Windy City since 2009.
Aside from the independent gigs, Tool will perform headlining sets at both the Boston Calling festival on May 28th and New York's Governors Ball on June 4th. The Governors Ball appearance will be the band's first show on New York City soil since May 2006 — needless to say the fans are hitting fever pitch in anticipation.
Tickets will be released for sale Wednesday for ToolArmy members, before the general on-sale begins Friday, March 17th. You can see more information and ticketing information on the Tool site. Visitors to the band's website will also see hints that additional dates might also be announced.
Back on February 16th, Tool offered a brief update about progress on their upcoming album, the eagerly awaited follow-up to their 2006's 10,000 Days. "The band has temporarily moved some of their gear into a larger space (across town) where Maynard [James Keenan] is working on vocals for some of the new Tool material. I'm sure that he has already been doing this to some extent, but now he has more room to breathe and a better vocal booth."
However, Keenan is not limiting is focus to Tool operations alone. He will next spend the majority of April and a week of May touring with another of his many projects, A Perfect Circle, which is also at work on the long-awaited follow-up to their 2004 album eMOTIVe.
You can check out the tour dates below — and wait for the ToolArmy to mobilize in full effect this summer.
