Top Music Videos Of The Week - February 6-12
Fri, 12 Feb 2016 14:47:40
This week, a bunch of eye candy was unveiled to viewers via a variety of engaging and entrancing music videos. Tyler, The Creator was covered by peaceful butterflies in his video for “Perfect.” Lana Del Rey got weird with Father John Misty in “Freak.” Sufjan Stevens shared what “Carrie & Lowell” looks like live. OK Go went to into zero gravity with “Upside Down & Inside Out.” Young Thug went medical with his video for “F Cancer” [ft. Quavo].
Out of all the music videos that caught our eyes and ears this week, here are our three favorite:
AlunaGeorge - “I’m in Control” [ft. Popcaan] - I Remember - Directed by Emil Nava - Interscope Records
AlunaGeorge’s sophomore album isn’t due out till spring, but the duo has finally provided a clue as to what it might sound like. Tropical and fully dance-worthy, the pair popped over to the Dominican Republic to create the vivid yet raw video for “I’m in Control.”
Quilt - “Roller” - Plaza - Directed by Adi Putra - Mexican Summer
This psychedelic Boston trio’s third LP is due out this year, and this week they gave us a taste of what to expect. The video for “Roller,” filled with choreographed dance moves, exploding, jiggling jello, and all the weird we’ve come to expect from this gang, shows that Quilt may just be on the verge of breaking through to the masses.
Beyoncé - “Formation” - TBA - Directed by Melina Matsoukas - TIDAL
Well it’s official, Beyoncé is back and everyone knows it. Her New Orleans-inspired video for “Formation” is everything we’ve come to expect from Queen B and more. It’s in your face, disruptive, revealing, and sexy as f***.
