Toro y Moi "Causers of This" Album Review — 4.5 out of 5 Stars

Hailing from Columbia, South Carolina Chazwick Bundick, best known as Toro y Moi, is a standout from the Chillwave movement in the summer of 2010. He was even a precursor to that season's outbreak of Chillwave, pioneering this signature sound as early as 2007.
His first studio album, titled Causers of This, combines '80s throwback synths and progressive rock hooks to create incredibly catchy and funky tracks. Chill, electronic tones flutter about and heavy synthesizers jam away. In addition to this, simple, yet painfully honest and raw lyrics float on top of sexy, groovy instrumentals. Big delays and drops pop up frequently, providing ethereal and atmospheric feelings. You can't quite put your finger on what makes Toro Y Moi so special, but there is no denying it. It's like how you know Inception was good or that Mila Kunis is hot—it just works. Each track sounds better than the last, and you end up in love and obsessed Mr. Y Moi.
If you were looking for a leader of the Chillwave movement, look no further. Toro Y Moi continues to intrigue with every album and EP. Be on the lookout for more of this guy.
