Touring Now, Danzig Releases ‘Skeletons' November 27

Though perhaps these days he's better known as a purveyor of Fresh Step and an occasional guest on Adult Swim, Danzig—supreme leader of the Misfits, Samhain, and his eponymous deathrock group—is looking for a little peripheral recognition: he's a ZZ Top and Everly Brothers fan, too, you know.
Coming November 27 via his own Evilive label, Skeletons is the singer's tenth full length album, and the latest follow up since 2010's Deth Red Sabaoth. "These are my skeletons," Danzig says of the record's ten tracks, including cuts from Aerosmith and Elvis Presley. "You may or may not know that I dig these songs. You could say that some of this music is the actual basis and skeleton of what I listened to growing up—ultimately informing the kind of music I like. It's the foundation. If you took Elvis and Sabbath out of my life, I probably wouldn't be the Glenn Danzig you know! I'm glad both sides are represented on this record."
If the collection seems out of step for the 60-year-old punk metal veteran (though it does contain what promises to be an epic cover of Black Sabbath's "N.I.B."), it's good time to remember that the singer has penned songs for the likes of Johnny Cash ("Thirteen") and Roy Orbison ("Life Fades Away"), and recently told Rolling Stone, "Elvis is actually kind of how I got into music."
"I hope people dig it," Danzig says. "I also hope it gives everybody a little bit of insight into the music I listen to and maybe an insight into how I did the songs. If you enjoy it, that's great."
