Tove Lo, CL, YG Soar In Top Music Videos Of The Week - August 13-19
Fri, 19 Aug 2016 14:06:05
Sometimes it's stunning how many new music videos come out in a week. Metallica returned to the scene with "Hardwire" off their forthcoming album Hardwired...To Self-Destruct. Coldplay released the video for the title song from their most recent album A Head Full of Dreams, featuring the band riding bikes throughout Mexico City. Van Morrison released a video for "Too Late". It also seems like Craig David is back in full swing, as he appears in Hardwell's new video for "No Holding Back".
YG released two videos this week, one which you'll find later in this list. He teams up with Macklemore and G-Eazy on "F*** Donald Trump". A Tribe Called Red got together with Yasiin Bey and unveiled "R.E.D." Travis Scott and Young Thug teamed up for "Pick Up the Phone".
We caught up with Peter Bjorn & John to discuss Breakin' Point, and this week they unveiled the video for Dominos. Arcade Fire's Will Butler released a solo live album a little while back and this week we got to see "Friday Night". Neon Indian returned with another video, "Annie", from 2015's Vega Intl. Night School. Danny L Harle's collaboration with Carly Rae Jepsen, "Supernatural", also received a video this week. And that was only the beginning for a week filled with stunning eye and ear candy.
Here are our favorites:
Tove Lo - "Cool Girl" - Directed by Tim Erem
We've been hearing Tove Lo's "Cool Girl" ever since it was released near the beginning of August. The song now has a video featuring the Swedish recording artist staying cool in the desert.
CL - "Lifted" [ft. Method Man] - Directed by Dave Meyers
So what if it is mostly a remake of Method Man's "Bring The Pain", CL turns "Lifted" into her own thing. The South Korean superstar is sure to blow up soon, just as she did as part of girl-group 2NE1.
DAWN - "Cali Sun" - Directed by Dawn Richard and Robert Coin
Dawn Richards says of her new video for "Cali Sun", "For the artists in the industry, their dreams rise and set like the California Sun. Nothing is promised but nothing is more beautiful at the same time". The animated video is stunning and shows exactly that.
YG - "Why You Always Hatin?" [ft. Drake and Kamaiyah]
Still Brazy single "Why You Always Hatin?" received the kind of rap music video we've come to miss. Lamborghinis, helicopters, giant gold goblets, a feast, plus Drake and Kamaiyah. It's star-studded and jewel-encrusted.
