The music of the late Tupac Shakur will be used as part of a Broadway musical. The rapper's music inspired the writer, which in turn inspired his closely guarded mother to grant permission for the usage of the songs.

Director Kenny Leon was inspired to write Holler If Ya Hear Me about two childhood friends in the Midwest along with their extended families. He sought and received approval to use the music from the rapper's mother Afeni Shakur.

A representative for Shakur told TMZ that Mama Shakur is "ecstatic" about the planned production and excited to see the musical.

A run date for the musical has yet to be determined.

Do you think Tupac's music will translate on Broadway? Would you go see the show?
