Universal is showing off its sweet tooth, as the studio has greenlit a live-action feature film based on the Hasbro board game Candy Land. The game is a simple race where players compete on colored tracks, and was designed in the 1940s by a woman who was recovering from polio. It has been one of the company's most popular and enduring board games. Enchanted's Kevin Lima has been hired to direct the picture.
The film is the first in a unique pact between the studio and the toy company which is designed to bring games to the big screen. No details about the film's plot have been revealed, other than it is expected to be a family-friendly movie that will appeal to people of all ages, just as the game itself.
