Vance Joy, Wilco, & Mavis Staples Are Gold In Top Songs Of The Week - November 10

We're finally past Halloween and fully gearing up for Thanksgiving, so this week, artists fed us some of the tastiest songs of the year this week. Whether you're into pop, indie, soul, or folk, the last seven days have unveiled some of the finest songs of the year.
Alyeska gave us even more to be excited about with their newest single. Wilco unveiled another previously unheard track that demands listening. And it was only the beginning for a week filled with delicious offerings. So without further ado, here are ARTISTdirect's top songs of the week:
Vance Joy — "Like Gold"
For about a year or so, it was pretty much impossible to go anywhere without hearing Vance Joy's "Riptide". It was infectious and felt good, and everyone seemed to be drawn directly to it. Now the Australian artist is finally readying the release of his follow up sophomore LP. Clearly, he has learned what it takes to make a hit and "Like Gold" continues down a similar path, but makes for a slower burn, encouraging his now larger audience to dig deeper. It's a solid, if predictable, second effort that is perfect for anyone who loves the first hit track that brought him to the top of the charts.
Mavis Staples & Jeff Tweedy — "Build a Bridge"
Jeff Tweedy and Mavis Staples' continued collaborative efforts always come off as inspired, which is impressive considering how long both acts have been in the game. Even if Tweedy's main gig has begun to flag with the years and its relatively excessive release schedule, here Jeff brings his best stuff. In a time where artists' voices are louder than ever, it's still hard to find one as direct, honest, and resounding as Staples'. "Build a Bridge" feels timeless, and we continue to be in awe of these two's continuously maturing talent.
Wilco — "Myrna Lee"
Wilco's archive is pretty extensive, so we would understand if you missed some of those 'unreleased, now released' rarities that seem to hit the airwaves every two to three weeks. #ICYMI, Jeff Tweedy (making his second appearance this week) and co. unveiled "Myrna Lee" a couple days back and it's one of those 'recently uncovered' tracks that we would normally roll an eye at, but Myrna is different. It's classic punch-drunk Wilco and reminds us of what inspired us drink down their kool aid in the first place.
Alyeska — "Stones"
There is something unknowingly attractive about Alyeska's "Stones". It's as if seeing a mirage just after the sun has fallen beneath the crest of a distant dune. An unknown outline is burned into your retina, and you can't help but head towards the only direction you still believe holds some distant prayer or hope. Just listening makes us thirsty, and leaves us craving more as soon as possible.
Big Sean and Metro Boomin have teamed up with 21 Savage on their new track, "Pull Up N Wreck". The song follows the duo's collaborative album Without Warning, which was released last week. Earlier this year, 21 Savage unveiled his debut album Issa Album, and he's no stranger to Metro Boomin, as the duo worked together on the Savage Mode EP last year.
