ARTISTdirect.com has partnered with Y-Love to premiere this video for "Famous," featuring BRODY and Milli810.
Y-Love is certainly a head-turner. He is talented. He is Los Angeles-based. He is African-American and Orthodox Jewish. He is also openly gay and he is a hip-hop artist.
Okay, we know that's a lot of adjectives and classifications right there, and Y-Love's backstory is beyond interesting. That's why we were compelled to team up with him to share this video.
Y-Love told ARTISTdirect.com that "'Famous' is the video where I embrace the rapper side of Y-Love; where I show that, inside of all the messages, is still an MC with the same dream we all have. An MC who wants to be famous and still have fun and party. Every kid in the hood with a microphone is singing this song every time they press record in their basements.
"This was also my first 'mainstream hip-pop' video since coming out, and after 'Focus on the Flair,' I figured the fans wanted to, well, focus on something else. But when Brody suggested we have a girl in the club scene in the video, I almost refused. I didn't want to even LOOK like I was straight in the video! So you see me walk out from the club by myself...story of my life."
We love that he made sure that art imitated life in this video.
What did you think of Y-Love and the video for "Famous?"
