Gorillaz released their new album, Humanz, just over a week ago, but it was announced long before that the band would be putting on their own festival in Margate, England. Now the animated foursome has finally revealed who will be joining them at Dreamland amusement park on June 10th. Danny Brown, Vince Staples, De La Soul, Kali Uchis, and Popcaan will all be performing at the event, as well as Icelandic band Fufanu and rappers Kilo Kish and Little Simz.
The festival will take place on three stages: a main stage, a local venue named Hall By The Sea, and a third stage that will be occupied exclusively by the Gorillaz DJ team, GSS Sound. The entire event will be streamed live online via Redbull.TV.
Damon Albarn, one of the men behind Gorillaz, had previously said all of the album’s collaborator would be at the event, but unfortunately Mavis Staples, Pusha T, Noel Gallagher, and D.R.A.M.were not shared as part of the bill. Though there remains hope that they might participate in the Gorillaz set. Whether or not they participate, it’s still quite the lineup for a festival built around a single group, even if that group just released a 26-track epic that was swimming with contributors. No matter what, we are sure the troublesome cartoons will put on one heck of an event.
