In case you need it…Here's some background on Valora. They're the most kickass new hard rock band out there, and their debut album will be available in early 2012. Be sure to check out their latest single "I Waited For You" here for a proper introduction. The band's debut album I Waited For You will be out on April 3, 2012.
" First Time For Everything " — Entry #6
2011 marks the year of many "firsts" for Valora.
In September, we shot our very first music video, along with the release of our first single "I Waited For You." To kick off the Fall season, we landed our first rock tour that ended with a HUGE rock 'n' roll weekend concert, the 48 Hours Festival in Las Vegas with the likes of Korn, Godsmack and Avenged Sevenfold; It was actually my first trip to Las Vegas ever! To add to the list of new experiences, I finally heard my own voice on the radio in the form of a collaboration with Breaking Benjamin on their single "Blow Me Away" off their Greatest Hits record. As if that doesn't take the cake, Modesto rock radio station B92.9 FM summoned Valora to take over the station for the entire 8am hour. With no prior radio show experience, we talked about absolutely everything happening with Valora, and played two acoustic songs live on the air. It was one of those unforgettable, breakthrough moments for us. The same radio station that so graciously welcomed us into town, invited us back to perform a full set for their 12th Annual Acoustic Christmas Show on December 11th.
We eagerly awaited the highly anticipated night where we would rock out “acoustic Christmas style” with Theory of a Deadman and Parachute. Aside from our 6 hour band rehearsal in my own living room, we couldn't have prepared for what was to come. We had to leave early on Sunday morning with just enough time to make it to our 3pm sound check. All was well from the start. We left on time, and didn't hit any traffic. We were just about there, when out of nowhere, we were greeted with an evil little sign that read "FWY CLOSED." We were forced to exit, and that's when things got rocky...Literally. Another sign, coupled with our GPS, informed us that we would be traveling for 8 miles on loose gravel. That doesn't sound so bad, right? Well, it was so bad! We were very slowly and jerkily passing through a forsaken area that reminded us of a scene straight out of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Old abandoned barns to our right, and acres of swampland to our left; we couldn't escape if we wanted to. Also, something unfortunate may or may not have happened to a squirrel. I don't know, ask Jared.
Needless to say, we arrived at the Modesto Centre Plaza and played one hell of a show. At least that's what the lovely citizens of Modesto are posting on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/valoramusic). Kenneth Benson of Valora has kindly put together a video with footage from our adventurous time in Modesto. Enjoy!
