In case you need it... Here's some background on Valora. They're the most kickass new hard rock band out there, and their debut album will be available in early 2012. Be sure to check out their latest single "I Waited For You" here for a proper introduction. The band's debut album I Waited For You will be out on April 3, 2012.
"Life Is Extreme" — Entry #7
If I could go back and relive last year's holiday season once more, I wouldn't do it if you paid me! So why is this year different? Hell, if I know. What really matters to me is the manifestation of a principal that I've always believed in: "A man's work makes room for him." Well, I have been working my ass off and I can really see all of the hard work paying off.
Last year at this time, I was probably an emotional wreck. This year, as they say, "I got shit to do!" There is nothing that makes me happier than being busy with anything music-related. That being said, I couldn't be happier. By the way, Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed just direct messaged me, AND I QUOTE, "You're like human sunshine! :)" Hopefully he doesn't mind that I shared that with you, but it proves my point exactly: I am overwhelmingly happy and occupied this year!
Just days ago, I sat at a table with some of my idols in music and movies. Rick Florino invited me to a video interview with James "Munky" Shaffer from Korn, Hollywood Undead's J-Dog, Actor Derek Mears, Rock Rapper Hyro Da Hero, Steve Krolikowski from Fear And The Nervous System and Repeater! I was so nervous and excited that I couldn't even sleep the night before. Fun fact about me: If you catch me baking, I'm nervous or stressed out. So naturally, I brought in a fresh batch of homemade cookies for everyone the day of the interview. Derek asked if they were "special" cookies...they weren't, but he still partook with a grin. I have to be honest, it felt like the first day of school, and I only knew one kid. That was Derek. We had met before at a red carpet event for the opening of Perri Ink. Cartel and instantly became friends. He's one of the sweetest, funniest on-camera serial killers I know (Yes, I know another one). Just sitting next to him made me feel less nervous. However, I do recall glancing across the table at Munky and getting goose bumps. I can't begin to explain how privileged I feel to have spent the entire afternoon with these amazingly, inspiring and accomplished people. I realized that I have gone through an amazing evolution in my career, and that it actually makes sense to now see the results I waited for. I can't wait to see what adventures 2012 has in s tore for me and Valora! If you're curious about my cookies, try them out for yourself!
Here's the recipe that I use!
Happy holidays, everyone!
