Warner Brothers has elected not to release the cinematic touchstone The Dark Knight in China. The studio released a generic statement regarding the matter, saying, "Based on a number of pre-release conditions that are being attached to The Dark Knight as well as cultural sensitivities to some elements of the film, we have opted to forgo a theatrical release of the film in China." A spokesperson declined to offer any further comment or insight into the studio's decision.

The Dark Knight will be re-released in theaters next month as the film makes a run for the $1 billion dollar mark to assist in drumming up Academy Award interest.
