Yesterday, video surfaced of Chris Martin and Beck leading a supergroup comprised of them, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith, Wallflowers' Jakob Dylan, Goldfrapp's Davide Rossi, Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band keyboardist Roy Bittan, and more covering The Beach Boys' "Surfin' USA", Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb", and Bruce Springsteen's "My Hometown".
Pitchfork reports, "According to various attendees who uploaded footage, the performances reportedly took place last night at a Malibu fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club. In an Instagram post, Chad Smith described the group as his "new boy band.""
Coldplay is next set to play at Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai, India on November 19th. Chris Martin has signed on to curate the event for 15 years. Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, and Metallica are set to headline the concert.
Beck has spent 2016 releasing new music and collaborating with several artists, including Flume, M83, and most recently Lady Gaga. Beck's newest single, "Wow", came out earlier this year, but there has still been no announcement on when we might be able to expect an album.
