We already knew that Ed Sheeran would be popping up during the new season of Game of Thrones, but it seems the fateful day has already come. In even better news, the ginger-haired singer's sweet voice made its HBO debut as well.
Sheeran played a travelling soldier who sang a little song that goes, "For hands of gold are always cold, but a woman's hands are warm." Arya Stark — played by Maisie Williams, who is a huge fan of Teddy — happened to be passing by on horseback, and remarked, "That's a pretty song. I've never heard it before," to which Sheeran replied, "It's a new one."
Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi recently told Billboard, "It's pretty cool. He sings a piece that I wrote with lyrics that came from the book. It was kind of like [Season 3's 'The Bear And The] Maiden Fair,' where I went in and wrote melodies for lyrics from the book. Ed sings those lyrics and he's great."
We are unsure if Sheeran will be making any more appearances during the final two seasons of Game of Thrones, but it was certainly a pleasant surprise for fans of the singer.
It wasn't all good news for HBO; the Season 7 premiere drew such a big audience last night that it managed to crash HBO's website. It turns out that you can't get everything you're looking for when you try to access the throne.
