Watch New Episodes of "Songs for Unusual Creatures" - It's our fave web show

We love when animals inspire music.

Some of Earth's strangest animals, including sea pigs, glass frogs, Jesus Christ lizards, magnapinna squids and more, have inspired writer and composer Michael Hearst to create a new video series with PBS Digital Studios and it's Songs for Unusual Creatures.

In each episode, Hearst will travel across the country to meet these unusual beings while also inviting guest musicians to perform a "theme song" Hearst creates for each one.

In this, the third episode, Hearst performs a playful piece inspired by the giant anteater -- a South American creature that can consume up to 30,000 ants in one day.

    That's a lot of ants!

Taking cues from the anteater's sniffing sounds and long snout, the piece utilizes unusual musical instruments such as brushes, zippers and a squeaky giraffe toy to reflect the quirkiness of the creature.

So fucking cute. Watch it below.

And... here's the newest video, Glass Frog. Enjoy!

We love music x the animal kingdom. We'll be talking to Hearst in the space of a Take Aim next month, too, so watch this space for more intel.

Did you enjoy the new eps of Songs for Unusual Creatures?
