Paramore have just announced the follow-up release to 2013's self-titled album. The band's first album in four years is called After Laughter, and will be released on May 12th on Fueled By Ramen.
To accompany the announcement of the eagerly awaited album, the band have released their first track and video. "Hard Times" was directed by Andrew Joffe and shows Hayley Williams unceremonious entrance into a dream-like set, with electrical strokes flashing from the band's interactions with their instruments — styled after the album's cover artwork.
The album, After Laughter, is produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen and Paramore's own Taylor York. It's an interesting and exciting time for fans of the band, as this release also marks the return of drummer Zac Farro. Farro quit the band seven years ago with his brother, Jeremy who was the bassist. As usual, rumors of Farro's return have been swirling and they all pointed to his involvement being limited to playing drums. However, the band signalled his full return via their Instagram — and "I'm Back" t-shirt.
Along with the new album the band are slated for a European tour in June.
Earlier in April Farro's side project Halfnoise released a cover version of Radiohead's In Rainbows track "House of Cards", on which Hayley Williams also featured. So it seems like reconciliation, refocus and forward movement are the keywords of the day at camp Paramore.
