Rumors began circulating this week following Dave Grohl's Oscar performance that the Foo Fighters might be calling it quits. Don't believe them, but do watch the band's hilarious video response.
In a recent interview Taylor Hawkins stated, "We've done so much in the past five or six years, that we could go in the studio tomorrow and start recording and have just as much fun as we've ever had, but I think the world needs a break from us for a little while."
Now the Foo Fighters have shared a hilarious mini-mockumentary that puts to rest rumors of the band breaking up with this message at the end: "For the millionth time, we're not breaking up. And no one's going fucking solo!"
In the video, Dave Grohl entertains the idea of going solo with the help of producer Butch Vig. Vig guides Grohl on a path towards hipness, keyboards, and computers: "the music is in the box. All you have to do is hit one button."
Meanwhile, the band at large go about the arduous task of replacing their lead singer. After tossing around names (Prince, Phil Collins, Gwen Stefani, and Justin Bieber are among those mentioned), the band settles on none other than Nick Lachey.
Foo Fighters' last album, Sonic Highways, was released in 2014. The album was accompanied by an Emmy-winning HBO series directed by Dave Grohl, which chronicled the making of the album through an inside look at the intersection of influences the band took from artists and communities.
The band's most recent tour had Dave Grohl performing with a broken leg on a throne that's equal parts awe-inspiring and plainly absurd. It is something to behold. Apparently Grohl designed the blueprint for the throne while high on morphine and oxycontin in the hospital.
Then last November the Foo Fighters released the Saint Cecilia EP.For more on the Foo Fighters, check out:
