The East Village music club Nublu is celebrating 10 years of showcasing some of the most diverse and exciting musical styles from around the world!
A typical week at Nublu is a smorgasbord of musical styles, from the long-running Wednesday night Forro dance party to late night jazz jam sessions with some of the best session players working today.
Acclaimed DJs from around the world have always made Nublu a stop on their NYC itinerary, spinning everything from Turkish disco to Afro-House to Brazilian forro. Musician/owner Ilhan Ersahin, a skilled keyboardist/sax player who himself embodies the cultural mix of heritage and musical roots that Nublu is known for, opened the club's doors in the hopes of nurturing talent and offering a place where he and music friends could jam and create their unique sounds, and 10 years later the music keeps flowing!
To mark the 10th anniversary Nublu will host a special concert at Le Poisson Rouge on Thursday, September 13 starting at 10PM that will feature four great bands that regularly call Nublu home: Hess Is More, Wax Poetic, Love Trio, Clark Gayton and a new addition of Sabina Sciubba of Brazilian Girls. The evening will also include DJ sets by Greg Caz, Modest P, Alex From Tokyo and Vladimir Radojicic, and special video productions courtesy of Special K!
