The master Weird Al Yankovic told Billboard he has finished nine songs for his upcoming album, with three left to complete. He is also currently on a summer tour.
Regarding the final three songs, Weird Al told the magazine that "if I'm lucky, I'll knock 'em out when I get off the road and have out at the end of the year. If not, it'll be next year some time, but I'm hoping sooner." Al, we cannot wait that long for more parodies.
Yankovic said that Lady Gaga "is a great candidate" for a parody but says that he doesn't want to give away any more information. He did reveal that he looks at the chart toppers for inspiration. Yankovic did release five of his new songs on last year's digital "Internet Leaks" EP, including parodies of T.I., The Doors and Queen.
Yankovic has also written a children's book, "When I Grow Up," which is scheduled to be published in March. "I wrote it last year," he says. "But apparently they have a long lag time with children's literature. It needs to pass through committees and everything. But I enjoyed doing that, and I'll probably be doing more down the line."
A Lady Gaga parody and a children's book? Weird Al, I love you. Keep 'em coming.
