The West Beach Music & Arts Festival will be held in Santa Barbara, California, on Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25. For this year's installment, the promoters have tapped a vast array of musical artists in various musical genres including: UB40, Rebelution, Pretty Lights, Easy Star All-Stars (performing 'Dub Side of the Moon'), Collie Buddz with New Kingston, Katchafire, SOJA, JJ Grey & Mofro, Still Time, Savoy, Tyrone Wells, Zion-I, Rey Fresco, The Beautiful Girls, Tomorrow's Bad Seeds, DJ Skeet Skeet, Fort Knox Five, Hyper Crush, Tribal Seeds, Mike Pinto, Aloe Blacc, Loomis & the Lust, Anuhea, The Green, Passafire, Through the Roots, The Upbeat, Gian Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Matty Matt, Sabatage, Sammy Bananas, DJ Quazar, BetaTraxx, Rico De Largo & DJ Sparx, DJ RI, Zander, Bones, aRod, LexiconDon, Short Circuit, Kelley James, The Movement, Stranger, and Redeye Empire. It's a diverse bill, that's for sure.
For the first time in its four-year existence, West Beach will expand its celebration by highlighting music, arts and California beach culture as a tour stop for CuervoGames, an American Gladiator-style athletic competition. CuervoGames from Jose Cuervo features several live, interactive challenges created to test the athletic prowess and skill of local competitors. Teams of four who head down to the West Beach Music Festival can go head-to-head on the Barrel Roll, where competitors climb a Mayan Pyramid to capture a series of flags at the top, the Waterfall Climb, where teams scale a 20-foot rock climbing wall as they're drenched by rushing water, or in the Margarita Madness, a messy race against the clock to make the ultimate cocktail. For more info, visit www.facebook.com/cuervo.
I am interested in these American Gladiator-style challenges. I also love Cali beach culture, so I wish was going to this event.
This year's fest will now happen at Chase Palm Park, located only four blocks away from its original location on West Beach in Santa Barbara. "Due to the growth and impact of West Beach throughout the years, we've moved the event to a new location,"said promoters Jeremy and Joshua Pemberton. "The new location will allow an increase of activities at West Beach and across Santa Barbara to make this year's festival the best yet." Chase Palm Park is located at 300 E. Cabrillo Blvd, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.
