The coroner has released Whitney Houston's body to her family as they prepare for her funeral. An autopsy has been completed and results are expected in six to eight weeks.

The cause of death has yet to be determined, although it is suspected that Houston, who was found in a bathtub, may have died as a result of taking prescription drugs and that she may have drowned.

"The investigation is ongoing," Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said. "It's too early to tell."

According to PEOPLE, the coroner is conducting toxicology tests that don't require the presence of the body so she can be laid to rest without hampering the investigation into the cause of death.

    R.I.P., Whitney.
