Whitney Houston's final film Sparkle, a musical drama that she filmed before her death on Feb. 11, will still be released. It will land in the multiplex on Aug. 17, which is eight days after what would have been Houston's 49th birthday. The fate of the film was up in the air, with fans wondering if it would be released despite her tragic passing.

The movie is a remake of the 1976 film and in it, Houston plays the mother of three sisters in a Supremes-like musical group who struggle with fame and drugs.

The late, great Houston recorded several songs for the film's soundtrack, which was intended as a comeback project. The release date for the soundtrack is not yet known.

Will you go see Whitney Houston's posthumously released Sparkle?
