"Music inspires me all the time," enthuses The Apparition writer and director Todd Lincoln. "Sometimes, I'll even play music on the set during certain scenes to get into a mood and rhythm."
You'll definitely feel a chilling rhythm when you see the film. Lincoln crafts a fast-paced tale of haunting as this Apparition wreaks havoc on Ashley Greene's character Kelly. Under Lincoln's deft direction and propelled by Greene's explosive performance, it's an expertly crafted original horror flick that'll make you jump and get you thinking.
At ARTISTdirect.com, we were particularly interested in what Ashley Greene and Todd Lincoln like to listen to though.
Given the movie's distinctly captivating movement, we thought it would be only fitting to have them participate in our exclusive "Who do you listen to?" segment.
In this exclusive feature, they both reveal what they dig musically...
Don't miss The Apparition in theaters on Friday August 24, 2012.
"Who do you listen to?"
Ashley Greene
"One day, it could be country. The next day, it's Adele or Kid Rock. I'm literally all over the place. If I'm doing something like The Apparition, I'm probably not going to listen to a country song. It'll probably be something a little hardcore. Linkin Park amps you up a little bit, so maybe that'd work. You've got to get something to pump you up because that's terrifying."
Todd Lincoln
"I grew up going to punk rock shows and all of these underground shows. While I was writing this, I was possibly listening to some Norwegian death metal, black metal, and some early '80s dark wave stuff as well as probably some scores from John Carpenter and Dario Argento films like Goblin or like Darkthrone and Emperor. For the film though, I avoided using known songs and the classical orchestral score. I listen to hardcore stuff, and perhaps on the next films we'll get that in there. I love Mayhem, The Misfits, The Adolescents, Black Flag, early Metallica, and a lot of heavy metal, punk rock, and black metal. At the same time, early country is some of the coolest stuff out there. Bob Wills, Hank Williams, and all of these guys are even more punk rock and dark than a lot of bands."
