For the first time in a long time, we can speak about U2 and not discuss the free album Songs of Innocence that landed in iTunes user libraries automatically, causing quite the uproar [iTunes link]. Why does singer Bono always wear sunglasses, both inside and at night? He has a really good reason.
Bono wears his sunnies not simply because shades are cool. They are cool, sure, but that is not the main reason the singer's sunglasses are ever-present.
Bono, who is 54, told Graham Norton that he has suffered from glaucoma for two decades, which makes his eyes sensitive to light. Therefore, his sunglasses are very necessary.
"This is a good place to explain to people that I've had glaucoma for the last 20 years. I have good treatments and I am going to be fine," Bono said when asked if he would ever go sans shades.
Keep wearing dem shades, Bono.
