Wilco will embark on a world tour this spring, in continued support of their most recent Star Wars LP, released last year. The tour weaves the band through several seasons, beginning June 1 at Charleston, WV and ending November 19, at London, England's O2 Brixton Academy. Wilco will be joined by Kurt Vile and the Violators, Angel Olsen, William Tyler, Lucinda Williams, and Richard Thompson along the way, at separate junctures.
Wilco's Jeff Tweedy also has a few solo dates in the states. He'll play Sheboygan, WI's Stefanie H. Weill Center on April 29. Tweedy, then, has a pair of Chicago shows in May at the Vic Theatre. In August, you can also catch Tweedy at Happy Valley, OR's Pickathon Independent Music Festival.
The international scope of the band's tour will take Wilco to such diverse locales as Yuzawa, Japan; Kotor, Montenegro; Oslo, Norway; and Brussels, Belgium in the coming months. The band has a number of dates planned for their home country, including stops in New York, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Missouri, and Utah.
Jeff Tweedy revealed Wilco have a new album ready to be released sometime this year in an interview with The Guardian in February. So far, that album has been kept under lock and key. But, given that last year's Star Wars was first heard as a surprise-release free download, there's precedent to believe the band could release their follow-up any day.
