The first annual Windy City Smokeout is set to take place July 12-14, 2013. This inaugural summer festival will bring together the best of live country music, beer and BBQ to the city's popular River North neighborhood at Hubbard and Rush Streets.
Throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy southern-inspired fare from premiere Chicago BBQ restaurants Smoque, Lillie's Q and Bub City, as well as nationally-acclaimed Myron Mixon, star judge of Destination America's BBQ Pitmasters, bestselling author of Everyday BBQ and Chef/Owner of Pride & Joy Bar-b-que in New York City and Miami, and The Salt Lick, hailing from Driftwood, Texas. Festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to interact with chefs and their culinary teams. And ice cold Coors Light will be available to wash it all down.
"We wanted to create a real BBQ fest right here in Chicago, and showcase the great, authentic flavors from around the country," said Doug Psaltis, Bub City Chef Partner. "We'll be offering a variety of takes on barbecue and hope people will experience them all."
At Windy City Smokeout, fans of country music and those that enjoy a good concert can also take in performances by three of country music's biggest stars. Festival headliners include Jerrod Niemann on Friday, July 12, followed by Grammy-nominated artists David Nail on Saturday, July 13, and Pat Green on Sunday, July 14. Well-known and emerging talent will take the stage throughout the day.
"We're excited about the big talent we have on board, and know that country music lovers will be too," said Ed Warm, Joe's on Weed owner. "During this weekend, Chicago will be the next best thing to Nashville."
General admission tickets are on sale. A one day pass is $30 and a three-day pass is $60. Tickets can be purchased at bubcitychicago.com.
