"Remember You" skates through a skittering futuristic soundscape driven by two of music's most potent presences Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd.
It doesn't sound like anything out there, and that's why you'll remember it for a long time to come. The Weeknd's pristine, powerful crooning sizzles on the hook with angelic implications even as he intones, "Girl, take pride in what you want to do, even if that means a new man every night inside of you".
It's a dark, sultry remark that sounds utterly beautiful when delivered by The Weeknd—transmuting grime into gorgeous is something no one does quite as well as he does. The line sets the tone, and then Wiz slips through the smoky haze with some of his best rapping yet. "We the new Aftermath," he proclaims, and he backs it up with those inimitable verbal chops that have made him a superstar.
Together, Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd tread entirely new territory for hip hop altogether and make one of the year's most intriguing and infectious songs. If this is any indication, when O.N.I.F.C. drops December 4, hip hop may never be the same.
