Wyclef Jean Awaits Ruling on Whether He Can Run for President of Haiti

The Associated Press is reporting that Haiti's electoral commission will finally rule on who will be allowed to run for president in November elections this Friday. This is news in the music world as Haitian-American hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean's announced his candidacy for the job last month, to much criticism, especially from his Fugees bandmate and cousin Pras.
Jean has said he is now in hiding after receiving death threats. The musician disclosed the threats in a series of e-mails to The Associated Press, revealing very few details, which is probably smart and ensues himself some protection. Jean said he received a phone call telling him to get out of Haiti and that he was in hiding in a secret location in the Caribbean country. Jean, who was born in Haiti, said he did not know whether the commission would approve his candidacy, but there have been questions about whether he meets the residency requirements to run.
"We await the CEP decision but the laws of the Haitian Constitution must be respected," he said in one of a flurry of e-mails. He also sent a single word email reading "Hope."
Does this sound like end of Jean's candidacy? Is he out of his league seeking this gig? Should he give up in lieu of threats against his life?
