Even though his bid for presidency of his native Haiti was a miserable failure, musician Wyclef Jean says he's proud of the way his charity responded after the earthquake that rocked the nation almost two years ago. The artist's Yele Haiti Foundation rebuilt an orphanage and set up a system of outdoor toilet and shower facilities in one of the largest shanties in the Haitian capital, according to The Associated Press. He was prompted to celebrate the organization's work now that his bookkeeping for the charity is coming under fire.
The New York Post printed a report over the weekend saying that the charity collected $16 million in 2010 but less than a third of that went to emergency efforts. The paper also states that $1 million funds were allocated to a firm in Florida that cannot be accounted for.
