The Conservative Party committed a major no-no, according to Mercury Prize winners xx. The band and their label are adamant that they did not give the Conservative Party permission to use the band's music at their recent conference.
Record Label Young Turks posted the news on Twitter, saying that neither they nor the band were asked if the political party could use their music and that they "certainly don't approve" of David Cameron's party, according to our friends at NME.
The Conservatives recently held their annual party conference in Birmingham and used an xx song as backing music! This isn't the first time a political party has "borrowed" music from a band without their permission. Even Bon Jovi have fallen victim to this "victimless" crime.
What do you think of political parties using music at their events without getting permission? Shouldn't policy makers know better?
