Yet Another 'High School Musical' on the Way

The folks behind the High School Musical franchise are already in the writing stages of a fourth movie despite the fact that High School Musical 3: Senior Year won't hit theaters until the fall.
"Are we going to have all the cast back? Probably not," Rich Ross, the president of Disney Channel Worldwide, revealed in a press conference on Tuesday. "Will we have some of them? I hope so."
Unlike the series' third film, High School Musical 4 will likely bypass multiplexes and head straight to TV. Ross insists they aren't rushing the writing process, however.
"We have learned that just putting a number next to a title is a very old idea," he said. "We have to have a new story." The second High School Musical movie decimated TV records last summer by attracting 18.6 million viewers to its premier and pushing Disney Channel to the top of the cable network heap in 2007.
