Yoko Ono has granted Glee producer Ryan Murphy the rights to use John Lennon's super personal track "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)" on the upcoming season finale of his other show, The New Normal. Whoa! Dat's a Major score right there. Nice work, Ryan!
The Murph reached out to Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono, who owns the rights to her husband's back catalog, in the hope of using the tune on the show, since it fit the theme. It turns out that the process was much easier than he suspected.
At a panel discussion, he revealed, "We reached out to Yoko Ono to get permission to use that song for an entire act with no dialogue and she said yes."
In the song, Lennon passionately expresses love for his son Sean, whose mother is Yoko. The ep centers on a gay couple that hires a surrogate in a bid to become fathers. What a perfect fit.
What is your favorite John Lennon track? Do you plan to watch this ep of The New Normal, which airs in April?
