Fri, 02 Sep 2016 13:15:25
It was a stunning week for new music videos, and we're not just talking about Kanye's "Fade" - though we will talk about it later. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj hit the gym and make spin class sexy in "Side to Side". Usher teamed up with Future in "Rivals". In another noteworthy collaboration, Ghostface Killah got on the mic for Wax Tailor's new track "Worldwide".
Tegan and Sara debuted the video for "White Knuckles". Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are preparing to drop their 16th studio album, Skeleton Tree, next week, and this week they unveiled the video for "Jesus Alone". Meanwhile, Thom Yorke joined Mark Pritchard on "Beautiful People".
Molly Burch debuted her video for "Downhearted". Allie X showed off her eye for juxtaposition in the video for "All the Rage". And that was only the beginning for a week filled with fascinating new music videos.
Here are our favorites:
Die Antwoord - "Banana Brain" - Directed by Ninja & Terence Neale
Die Antwoord is back, and we dug into their new music video and upcoming album earlier this week.
Kanye West - "Fade" - Directed by Eli Russell Linnetz
Kanye West's music videos this year have been both stunning and controversial. We will go with the former to describe his newest release, "Fade".
Sleigh Bells - "It's Just Us Now" - Directed by Derek Miller
The release of Sleigh Bells's fourth album Jessica Rabbit is just about two months off. The video for new track "It's Just Us Now" contrasts swimming pools and graveyards, all while telling us to "keep the faith". We will.
Yumi Zouma - "Keep It Close To Me"
Yumi Zouma released their video for "Keep It Close To Me" this week, and we caught up with the band to discuss their debut LP Yoncalla.
