Zoe Saldana May Star in Colombiana

Zoe Saldana continues to have a banner year as her star skyrockets. The Avatar and Star Trek actress has to have more than a decent set of agents, as she is in early negotiations to star in the drama Colombiana. The film is scheduled to shoot in late summer, with Olivier Megaton – what a last name! Megaton? That sounds like a weight!- of Transporter 3 fame on board to direct.
The film is set in Latin America and the U.S. Saldana would play a young woman who, like Batman's Bruce Wayne, witnesses her parents' murder as a child. Only Saldana's character ain't living in Gotham, but in Bogota. Seeing her parents slain before her very eyes causes her to grow up to become a stone-cold, hardened assassin. The character works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the murderers who are responsible for her parents' death. It definitely sounds like a dressed down, feminized version of the Batman story to me!
Saldana has already illustrated a deftness with action roles thanks to her work in Avatar and Losers. She is also a newly appointed Avon spokeswoman. Must feel good to be Zoe Saldana.
Do you think this film sounds like a redo of the Batman backstory? What's your favorite Saldana role?
