Cadence of Raw Produce Biography
As one half of Raw Produce, a Cambridge MA based crew, Cadence has been making noise for a while now. Originally recognized as the versatile production team behind "The Coalition," an affiliation of performers that included poet/MC Mike Ladd and DJ Revolution (of Wake Up Show fame), Raw Produce's debut single "Cycles" b/w "Make A Mark," released on Insomnia Records in 1995, showed audiences that in addition to his beat-making prowess, Cadence has considerable skills on the mic.
Since then Cadence has established his reputation for consistently dropping strong hip-hop with musically complex production and intelligent lyrics. In addition to appearing on 4 singles and a 6 song EP by Raw Produce, Cadence caught many listeners by surprise with his blistering verse (over a Raw Produce beat) on 7L & Esoteric's "State of the Art," along side Boston area heavyweights Esoteric, Akrobatik and CheckMark (Skitzofreniks).
On the road to completing Raw Produuce's debut album Cadence learned that his Mother had been diagnosed with lung cancer, which eventually metastasized to her brain. As his Mother's only family member, Cadence had to put hip hop on the back burner during the three year cancer battle, during which time his musical output slowed.
When his Mother passed away, Cadence returned to hip hop with renewed enthusiasm, determined to make a strong contribution to the artform. Since that time he has faced the challenge of rebuilding the momentum he lost when he was forced to put his musical career on hold. These experiences are reflected in the messages, emotion and humor dsiplayed in his music.
In the coming months Cadence will be coming at you from all directions with the release of his debut solo album "Cadence Poisons the Minds of The Children" on Day By Day Entertainment and the release of Raw Produce's long-overdue debut album "The Feeling of Now," on Female Fun Music, as well as a slew of production projects which will further establish Cadence's reputation for making creative hip hop with something to say.
