1.Background:



1981. When he was 14 years old, he began to study cello at the Strings Orchestra School in Rio Claro (Brazil), directeb by Maestro Pedro Cameron. He took private classes with Gretchen Miller, and with Ivo Meyer. He attended stages of cello, orchestral practice, basic lutery and harmony.

1986. He began to study double bass with Guigui Pfaffenbach.

He took Orchestra direction and practice classes with maestro Pedro Cameron. He worked as an assistant and directed some rehearsals of the Rio Claro Symphonic Orchestra.

1987. He entered the Music College at UNICAMP (Campinas University), with the highest grades at the university entrance examination.

He attended course with Paolo Pugliese (classical bass) Jorge Oscar (modern bass, formerly Gal Costa bass player) Rafael dos Santos (piano), Ricardo Goldemberg (arrangement), Eduardo Andrade (studio techniques and phonographic production). Moreover, traditional harmony, rhythmics.

He had a stage with Sandrino Santoro, first double bass in the Rio de Janeiro State Orchestra and one of the best Brazilian double bass player.

He took private lessons with Marcos Cavalcante and Acelino de Paula.

2.Musical activities

In Brazil:



1981-88. As a cellist: concerts with the Rio Claro Youth Orchestra, the Koelle Chamber Orchestra and other small groups. Later as a double bass player, he played in the Rio Claro Symphonic Orchestra and in the Campinas Youth Symphonic.



1987-90 full activity in jazz and modern popular brasilian music.

He founded the "Kandari" band with Lupa Mabuze, singer - composer, and Aquiles Faneco, guitarist, starting a musical research movement named "New Bossa".

He arranged and composed for the shows "Bye-bye Brazil" and "Moitará" with Ed Cortes (sax player - arranger and producer.

He took part in "Suvaco de Cobra" band, with Marcos Cavalcante (guitar), Roggero Chiarinelli (drums), Ariovaldo (formerly percussionist with Sara Vaughn and Tim Maia) Binga (keyboard).

He played with Marcos Ferrari (piano), Odival Luciano F. (piano), Manito (flute).

Edu Hebling 4tet:born in 2002, with original compositions by E.H.

The syle is Brazil-jazz. The band is Kyle Gregory (trumpet), Paolo Vianello (piano), Marco Carlesso (drums).

The quartet performed at Venetojazz festival 2003 (Arqua Petrarca e Bassano), and jazz-clubs as Al Vapore, Cafè Pedrocchi, Osteria Terraglio.

DMA: with Marco Castelli. This band, performed in many important jazz festivals, in Canada (Montreal e Toronto), Messico (Cervantes por todas partes), Jamaica (Ocho Rios Festival), Spagna (San Sebastian), Lituania, Estonia, Germania, Grecia, Venezuela, Curaçao. Gli altri elementi sono Alfonso Santimone alle tastiere e programming, e Leo di Angilla alla batteria.

Paola e Chiara: as a lyricist write some Portoghese versions to their songs. "Fino alla fine" [Columbia records -Sony Music].

Federico Stragà: the songwriter from L'Astronauta e Cigno Macigno, twice at San Remo music festival. He played in concerts and at the tv show Roxy Bar. Play toghether in the project Stragà sings Sinatra.
