It all started after Charlie Tate graduated from the London School of Furniture. But a promising future in bespoke cabinet making was cut short when Paris-based label Big Cheese Records came calling and enlisted Charlie to assemble and play bass in the Big Cheese All-Stars. Opening gigs for the likes of Gil Scott-Heron and James Brown ensued, as did a stint playing bass for Neneh Cherry.
