Combining melodic pop elements with the edgy atmosphere of indie rock and Brit-pop, Alterkicks were formed in 2002 by singer Martin Stilwell, guitarists Mike Oates and Gareth Padfield, bassist Mark Yari-Gerrard, and drummer Oliver Hughes.
