Japanese jazz guitarist Hideaki Tokunaga was born in Osaka, Japan, on February 27, 1961. After honing his skills in his home country, Tokunaga moved to the United States, first New York and then California, and studied music on a Charles Mingus Scholarship at the California Institute of Arts.
