Depeche Mode, Tool set to headline California's desert music festival.
Coachella Lineup Announced
Well, it's not as exciting as some of the bogus lineups that have been getting "leaked" over the last several weeks, but the official lineup for this year's Coachella Festival still boasts a pretty impressive array of groundbreaking artists.Day one headliners Depeche Mode, who were confirmed over a week ago, will be joined by Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand, Icelandic avant-ambient group Sigur Ros and Chicago rapper and Kanye West cohort Common. The day two headliners are the prog-metal act Tool, New York art-punks The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Bloc Party, who played a side stage last year but are likelier to get a more choice slot this time around.
Fans of British folk-rock heartthrob James Blunt may be surprised to see his name further down the list in Sunday's lineup, but Blunt remains below the radar of most American hipsters, despite the fact that his album Back to Bedlam cracked the U.S. top ten in January.
Other noteworthy acts scheduled to appear include British hip-hop sensation Lady Sovereign, making one of her first major U.S. appearances; New York indie rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, who have sold tens of thousands of albums without a record label; and Gnarls Barkley, a collaboration between rapper/singer Cee-Lo Green and red-hot hip-hop producer Danger Mouse.
