Madonna Treated for Hernia After Grammy Performance
Madonna looked like she had something to prove during her show-opening performance at this year’s Grammys, flouncing and bouncing around stage in a revealing leotard, busting moves that would have left the repertoire of most 47-year-old women years ago -- or decades ago.Alas, time took its toll in the end. Following her performance, the singer was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for a minor hernia operation. Hernias occur when abdominal walls are under duress, leading to bulging or ripping. A spokeswoman said that Madonna was “absolutely fine” following the surgery.
Even days later, however, it was reported that the singer couldn’t even bring herself to lead an after-dinner prayer at L.A.’s Kaballah Center. While it’s possible that the silence stemmed from the realization that she couldn’t live in her “Holiday” days forever, there is also a growing buzz that Madge’s marriage is on the rocks -- and that her immersion into Kaballah may be partially to blame. Husband Guy Ritchie accompanied the Hernia Girl to the Brit Awards on Feb. 15 -- where she took home the honors for Best International Female Artist, but did not perform. Reports, however, indicate that the couple was visibly tense, and Madonna helped fuel rumors of an impending split by failing to thank her filmmaking hubby in her acceptance speech.
